New update for the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change now available
The EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change continues to make strides toward its key objectives. This progress is assessed every six months through Barometer Updates, which use a structured monitoring framework and 13 indicators to provide a snapshot of developments across Europe. The first three Barometer Updates are now publicly available, with the latest covering progress up to 30 September 2024.
The Barometer Update tracks progress against the Mission’s three core objectives:
- Supporting European regions, local authorities, and communities (RLACs) in preparing and planning for climate resilience. Recent highlights include increased participation in events, enhanced resources on the Mission Portal, and positive feedback from Charter Signatories.
- Accelerating the transformation to a climate-resilient future by supporting at least 150 RLACs. By September 2024, 143 RLACs had received tailored technical assistance or financial support through MIP4Adapt, Pathways2Resilience, and CLIMAAX.
- Scaling up actionable solutions through 75 large-scale demonstration projects, with an emphasis on cross-border collaboration. By the latest update, 195 RLACs were demonstrating climate resilience solutions through 24 Horizon Europe-funded Mission Projects.
The next Barometer Update will report on developments up to 31 March 2025.
