Just resilience
These pages contain information about just resilience – what it is, why it matters and how it can be achieved. There are also examples of how it has been integrated into existing climate adaptation efforts.

What is "just resilience"
Just resilience is a matter of recognising the disproportionate impact of climate change on the most vulnerable groups in society, of protecting them and ensuring that the risks and benefits of climate adaptation measures are justly shared .

Why is just resilience important?
There is a risk that climate change will reinforce existing inequities and widen social disparities. To mitigate this risk, a justice perspective should be considered in all strategic climate adaptation work.

How can we achieve just resilience?
Aspects of justice in climate adaptation should be addressed by politicians and policymakers at an early stage. Example questions that should be considered are: What happens if we fail to consider aspects of justice? What will be the long-term cost? What effects will it have on society?

This is how we integrate just resilience in our work
On this page we have gathered some examples of how just resilience is integrated into our materials and tools.
